Julie has been a Massachusetts licensed riding instructor since 1988. Her credits include an A.S. in Equine Science and a B.S. in Equine Business Management from Johnson and Wales University. In September of 2013 Julie became PATH certified for Therapeutic Riding and is currently working towards her certification in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy.
During her 18 year stay in Michigan she trained in dressage on a regular basis with Carole Grant, Maryal Barnett, & Susan White. After riding in several clinics with Paul Belasik, Julie traveled with her Hannoverian/Paint cross pony to Pennsylvania to ride in one of his intensive summer short courses to improve her position and teaching skills.
Julie and her students have won many local and regional awards in New England and the Midwest in dressage and eventing, including numerous championships and reserves from Midwest Dressage Association, Michigan Eventing Association and the US Dressage Federation. She has also bred and competed Welsh Ponies though out the Northeast and Midwest and won several stakes races with her Michigan bred Thoroughbred race horses. Her credits also include being a board member for The Midwest Dressage Association and the Michigan Welsh Pony and Cob Association.
Julie teaches riders of all ages and abilities, and excels in working with riders dealing with fear or physical issues. She is available for dressage, stadium, and cross country lessons, as well as coaching at shows and events. She travels to local private farms to teach and train and is available for both recreational and therapeutic riding lessons at The Bridge Center in Bridgewater, Massachusetts.
Providence Riding Academy LLC maintains several school horses and ponies for students to use for lessons, clinics, showing and unmounted activities. All horses and ponies are well mannered and trained to perform lower level dressage and/or jump. Students are matched with animals that are appropriate to their level of training and personality.
